  • Demo 5 Music Update
And one of them is the music. Now, while the team was generally happy with Demo 4's tracks, we did notice that not everyone (or at least a really high percentage of our users) shared our opinion. And it did hurt the enjoyment of some of our fans. So, we decided to take it upon ourselves to redo the music with a new style of sound, in the hopes it'll be received better. Up until a few months ago, we didn't forsee this getting in the way of Demo 5's release, so we wanted to keep it as a surprise, but as it turns out, our beloved team member and musician Soulred12, got his law career started. Yes, he was training to be a lawyer for quite a few years and we're pleased to see it paying off for him.

However, working in the law field isn't a simple 9-5 job. A typical work day may exceed even 12 hours, and that means SoulRed12 would have no time left over to work with us. As such, we decided to just let him manage the website and participate in events. Naturally, we had to seek out another musician, and so I present our new musician... MaxieDaMan.

Naturally switching to a new musician presents a new musical style. This unfortunately means that Demo 5 needs to have all of it's tracks redone. However, as you all are aware the holiday season is upon us now and we have agreed for him to have off for the holidays, as it is a time to spend with your family. This being said, music and bug testing are the two major things keeping us back at this point.

We have three new tracks we want you to mull over. You can find them on MaxieDaMan's SoundCloud, below.

    Names to be decided later.

We need you to listen and compare these to some of our previous tracks to see what your thoughts on some of these changes.

    Demo 4's ACDC theme
    Demo 4's Internet Theme
    Demo 4's Virus Busting Theme

Now is your chance to give your input on the game's production, so be sure to take advantage of it. Sadly, this does mean we can't meet our December 21st deadline, but that's okay. That just gives us more time to polish Demo 5 as a whole. So, if you want to help us get this demo out faster, make sure you give us your feedback and thoughts via leaving a comment below this post, or on our Facebook/Twitter posts. You can even vote in this Sparklit poll. This poll will close January 9th, 2017 to accommodate for the holiday season.

Here are links to both MaxieDaMan's YouTube and SoundCloud if you wish to check out more of his work.

We'll make sure to keep you guys posted as we make progress going forward.

    Chrono X, out!

I definately prefer the D4 battle theme. On the whole, Maxie's style definitely feels very "Battle Network-ish", but I feel it is a little too close, as the actual series evolved it's style overtime. I feel Soulred's style would be what a 2017 Battle Network would sound like.

smile Everytime I hear the new cyberworld theme I feel like I'm back in 8th grade playing the original BN games... this track sounds pro!

The ACDC theme and execute theme sound really similar, can't get my finger on why though.
The execute theme itself seems much more mellow and less action based and in my opinion much weaker than what should be for a battle theme.
Cyber plant theme is perfect though, it gives this whole futuristic star bucks effect which I'm hoping is what you're aiming for.

I like D4's ACDC and Internet a lot, but I prefer D5's tracks overall. Still, D4's ACDC and Internet are awesome.

Hey! I've been watching this project for years now (ever since the 7th Grade, now I'm in 11th) and I love how ambitious this is! I heard of MaxieDaMan's mock-up tracks and loved them, so I'm glad you guys got him for the job. As for SoulRed12's original tracks, I'll be a little sad for I liked the Battle Themes (can't say the same for the Internet theme, sorry. ^_^;). However, I wish you luck on your new job SoulRed12! :D

I can say with certainty that about 80% of what you're going to hear across an entire BN game are the battle themes. That's why I feel it's so important to get this right, because it'll keep the player pumped and going even when things start to get tough.

(Sorry for the double comment, the character limit got me, and this is how strongly I feel about this!)

I'd been following this project silently for a while, and I'm going to be honest, the music was my biggest gripe. No offense to SoulRed, but the instrumentation didn't sound like it was fit for a Battle Network game. Maxie hits the instrumentation right on the head, save for the ACDC theme sounding a bit off-key at a part (or maybe that's just me?)

Looks like it links to the right place now, thanks! The virus theme also sounds great!

I think the Virus Busting Theme link actually leads to the internet theme again. The ACDC and Internet theme are great because they are the kind of style I like from Battle Network. Not to say that SoulRed's style is bad or anything.
