Greetings and welcome to the MegaMan Battle Network Chrono X FAQ. The purpose of this FAQ is to answer general questions relating to either the game or the team. If for some reason your question is not included here, please feel free to reach out to us for an answer.

Q: Can I see the source code? / Will you help me with my game?

A:
No, you may not see the source code to the game. We have put a lot of hard work and effort into our game and for someone else to produce a clone of it without the hard work we put into it is not something we want. If you desire to make a Battle Network game, we wish you the best of luck, but it must come from your own skills.

It is for a similar reason that we will not assist you with your game either. We've put a lot of hard work and effort into Chrono X already, and to split it between two or more games would hinder our development time further. Don't get us wrong, sometimes people have great ideas and we'd love to see them succeed, but we also know that stretching ourselves too thin will help no one in the end.

Q: How do I play the game?

A:
First, you'll need to download the game. If you haven't already, you can download it here and follow the directions on that page.

Q:Can I access Multiplayer from any point in the game?

A:
Yes, with the exception of parts that restrict your access in some ways, such as the Speed Preliminary Round in Chapter 3.

Q: I keep disconnecting from my games! Is it just me?

A:
Sometimes the game may disconnect if the information it received from the opposing NetBattler is inaccurate. This typically happens as a result of a bad Internet Connection. Try NetBattling against someone a little closer to your location and see if that resolves your issue.

For further information, please read the multiplayer pdf file bundled with Demo 5.

Q: I found a bug, what do I do?

A:
For starters, don't go running to Max or another of the staff and complain. We have a single programmer and a limited number of QA testers so it's only natural something will be missed. Second, don't report a bug through e-mail or our social media channels. If you find a bug please check the Bug/Glitch Report thread to see if it has already been submitted. If it has, then you're done; we've made a note about it and will make sure that it is fixed for the next release. If it has not been submitted, you may then report it and we'll get back to you. Do not continue to bug us about a game issue once it has been submitted. Please be as detailed as possible when submitting bug reports so that we can find and deal with the bug faster.

Q: Is this a GBA ROM that can run on an emulator?

A:
no, this game is not a ROM, nor does it require an emulator to work. Chrono X was programmed from scratch in GML and is a standalone Windows application (.EXE file). It does not have any ROM or EMU data inside of it. The default button configuration is also the same as GBA emulators because many of our players are used to these controls.

Q: Will my game save from the previous demo work with any new demos released?

A:
We will try our best to make sure all future releases are compatible with old save files, however, we cannot promise this for sure given the nature of the demos and technical issues that may arise as we continue working on the game. In cases were an old save file won't work, there is likely new polish to earlier parts of the game for you to go back and enjoy to make it worth your while to replay.

Q: What systems do you guys plan on making this game for?

A:
The current plan is to finish Chrono X for the PC and then tackle Android Devices. A Mac port is possible, but something to consider in the future once the Windows and Android version are finished.

Q: When will the next demo version be released? Demo 5.1 is coming? What's that?

A:
This is rather difficult to say due to how our team works. Rest assured that we will post on our site and our social media channels when we have information regarding future demo releases.

Demo 5.1 is our planned content update for 5.0. We didn't get to implement all of our planned features and tweaks to the existing release, so we decided to push out 5.0, have you guys give feedback, then incorporate it into a next release.

Q: When is the full game coming out?

A:
Again, this is another difficult question to answer. The best thing that we can say is that it will get done. The best way to keep up with the progress of the game is our site and social media channels.

Q: I have a Mac, how can I play this game on my device?

A:
Currently there are no plans on a native release for Mac due to Apple's fees and policy, though this may change as we progress. In the meantime we recommend using the Crossover MAC program, though we cannot promise it will run as smoothly as if it was on a Windows device.

Q: I can’t connect. Is the game broken?

A:
There may be a few reasons you cannot connect. First, check if both parties are using the correct Mate code. Usage of the clipboard and Discord bot should mitigate some human error. After this, it’s a bit harder to troubleshoot. One or both parties may be experiencing difficulties with their Internet connection. Or there may be too great of a distance between each NetBattler.

Next, each person should check his or her NAT-type that’s specified in their routers settings to see if Chrono X can connect in the first place. You need to make sure your NAT-type meets these standards. If you do not, then you will be unable to connect until the Chrono X team can assist you.

Alternatively, go into the KeyConfig tool that’s provided with the same directory as the game and have both parties enable uPnP under Misc. When uPnP is enabled and working, the router’s NAT-type is irrelevant.


Q: What is the Mr.Prog Bot on the Discord for?

A:
The Mr.Prog Bot is our little helper with disseminating relevant game information. He also has commands that let you streamline the multiplayer-connectivity process, such as !setbattlecode and !getbattlecode. If you type !help, you'll get a detailed list of commands

Q: What happened to the Android version of Chrono X you guys used to have?

A:
With updates made to the Android operating systems a while back, the version we had released to the public was made obsolete. That being said, the main purpose of that release was to showcase that we were able to port to the android if the desire for it was there.

We have plans in the works to update Demo 5 for the Android platform, as well as all future releases. And perhaps, if things go well, we'll port it to Linux as well.

Q:Will there be any differences between the PC and Android version?

A:
There will inevitably be some in order to accommodate a different control scheme. However, we will do all we can to insure there are no major differences between the two platforms.

Q: I'm getting microstutters/mini freezes for the game. What can I do?

A:

In the ini file, set the prefetch flag to 1 and reopen (don't restart) the game. See if that fixes your issue.

We've done our best to include as many popular Navis of old while also making new Navis.

Q: How does MegaMan transform in this game?

A:
MegaMan transforms using a new system in Chrono X called the Me.M.E.N.T.O. system. You can find out additional information on this new system here. Alternatively, play Demo 5 to get a brief demonstration of it in-action.

Q: Will Raito/Patch make an appearance in this game any?

A:
Chrono X takes place one year after the events of Battle Network 6. Patch has yet to be born at this time, so no.

Q: Will Starforce MegaMan/Ryuusei Rockman make an appearance in this game?

A:
We will NOT be including Starforce MegaMan in Chrono X. We may include some minor references to the sequel series, however.

Q: Who is the main enemy of Chrono X?

A:
The main enemy is a group known as Red Infinity. They are after the Z parts. More will be revealed about them as time progresses and in Demo 5.

Q: What are the Z Parts?

A:
The Z Parts are the remains of a beast once slain by our dynamic duo. There is more to them than meets the eye, and the power they possess is quite mysterious to both the Officials and Red Infinity.

Q: Will Dark Chips be back?

A:
No, all of the remaining Dark Chips were destroyed at the end of Battle Network 5.

Q: Will Lan and Mayl progress their relationship further? (Also known as: R LAN AND MAYL GUNNA DO IT LULZ)

A:
While this game will a slightly more mature plot than previous games, the game will overall be sticking to a 'PG'-ish theme (think similarly to Battle Networks 2 and 3). We can say that there will be considerable advancement in their relationship compared to the previous games.

Q: Isn't Lan supposed to be studying in DenCity after the events of the last game? Why is his school in ACDC still?

A:
Great question. We decided that, since we would only be using the school for a single cutscene, there was no need to devote the time into making the city to contain the school. Since Chrono X takes place during the summer, it was only necessary for the beginning cutscene.

Q: Will this game have Cheat Codes or Save States like ROMs do?

A:
Nope. You have to rely on your skills, your hard earned chips, and your strategies in order to succeed in Chrono X. No cheating, sorry.

Q: Is this game going to be free, or are you planning on selling it?

A:
Nope, this game has been and always will be 100% free. We are creating this game for fun during our free time and not for profit. If you ever come across someone attempting to sell this game, please inform us so we can deal with it.

A:
While we do plan on cutting down the amount of end-game grinding you will need to do, given the nature of the series it may be unavoidable. Rest assured however that we will try our best to make sure that all chips and their codes can be obtained naturally outside of Chip Traders.

Q: Will V4 and V5 chips return in Chrono X?

A:
No, we believe that the EX/SP ranking is overall better than the V-series ranking, and have opted to go that route instead. It also doesn't hurt that SP chips will be powered up in Chrono X based off of how fast you defeat the SP Navis (< 10 seconds).

Q:My gamepad doesn't seem to be detected. What do I do?
A:
Try to download this. Put it in the same folder as the game, and see if this fixes your issue. If it doesn't, reach out to us.

All of the content of Chrono X belongs to the original creator(s). MegaMan, Battle Network, and everything created by Ccapcom belongs to Capcom Inc. We claim no ownership nor do we seek to gain profit from this game. Everything original to this game such as characters, music, chip ideas, etc. belongs to the creator, and you need to ask permission of said creator prior to you being able to use it. For example, if you wish to use MaxieDaMan's music you would need to get written, explicit permission from him in order to use his music. No exceptions.

Q: Can I add one of you guys on Skype or on a social media site? Please?

A:
You are welcome to add the official MegaDudes account on Facebook, but for individual members you need to ask them first.

Q: Do I need to be a member of the forums to talk to you guys?

A:
While you don't need to be a member of our forum to reach out to us, in order to get the best technical support it would help if you made a forum or Discord account to easily communicate on our site. It also makes submitting ideas to the DevTeam easier as well.

Q: Are you guys planning anything besides the next demo release?

A:
Now that would be telling, wouldn't it? We're always planning things in addition to the demo releases, be it new game content or things to tease you with as we work. As long as you keep up with our updates, you shouldn't miss anything major.

Q: How can I get involved with the project?

A:
There are a number of ways for you to become involved in the project. You are free to join our Discord and communicate with other fans. You can also spread the word of the project's updates and development. Seeing fans get excited about what we deliver makes us excited as well.

If you are interested of joining the team and helping develop the game feel free to contact us. You'll need to inform us of what it is you wish to do, and then provide a sample of your work. Be aware that at this moment we are mostly looking for artists.

Q: What kinds of ideas should I suggest on the forums?

A:
We are currently only looking for battle chip and virus ideas. Please make sure all suggestions are well thought out, viable, useful and interesting. Go over any concept prior to submission and imagine if it would fit in the game. If it wouldn't, then you most likely shouldn't post it.

We are not currently taking suggestions for the following parts of the game:

-Ideas for the main story
-Cross Fusion requests
-Crossovers
-Bringing back past power-ups (Styles/Souls/Crosses)
-Ideas for Navis to include.

In addition, if you join our forum and post any idea for the game, you give us the right to use that idea. If you submit anything to us, you give us the right to use that idea. Please be wary of this when submitting things you may not want used. Please make sure that anything you submit is yours and that it does not belong to someone else.

Q: Can I Advertise my Game here?

A:
Yes, you may. However, you may only do so as long as you are not attempting to seek out help from the staff, to annoy our users, and have at least 15 posts throughout the site prior to making the advertisement.
